Abstract(s)
A proporção de pessoas idosas a serem submetidas a cirurgia tem vindo a aumentar
exponencialmente.
The proportion of elderly people undergoing surgery has been increasing exponentially. An increasingly aging population, with a high probability of developing postoperative complications requires an adaptation of health services and that health professionals, including nurses, are trained to provide care to this age group in the perioperative context. The surgical procedure is essential to improve functionality and quality of life for the elderly and their families. In the same way that nursing care in the preoperative phase is structured in order to respond to the needs of the elderly person and their family, it is now important to reflect on how it is possible to optimize post-surgical health outcomes after hospital discharge. What will be the best strategy to implement in the context of postoperative consultation, in order to respond to the needs of the elderly person and their family in terms of global functional recovery? In view of these concerns, the intervention project was developed, which I report here in a critical and grounded manner, in the internship of the Internship with Report of the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Intervention Area for the Elderly. The path taken during this internship, at the Community Care Unit Almeirim - Alpiarça, in Almeirim and at the External Consultation Service of the Hospital Cuf Santarém, in Santarém, allowed the development of both specific skills for the attribution of a master's degree and common and specific competences of a specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing in the care of the elderly and family, particularly in the context of Postoperative Nursing Consultation. This report was based on design methodology and evidence-based practice. A scoping review was carried out according to the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute (2015) in order to map all the relevant scientific evidence on the subject. Thus, it was concluded that the nursing care plan to be implemented for the elderly person and family in the context of postoperative consultation, after hospital discharge, should be based on multidisciplinary interventions that optimize their capacity and functional autonomy.
