Abstract(s)
PubMed, CINAHL Complete, SCOPUS.
This document cons\tutes an internship report for the Master's Degree in Maternal and Obstetric Health at the Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto. It encompasses a detailed descrip\on and cri\cal reflec\on on the specialized care provided by Nurse Specialists in Maternal and Obstetric Health to pregnant women, pregnant women experiencing complica\ons, women in labor, postpartum women, and newborns, with the aim of consolida\ng evidence-based prac\ce. Throughout the provision of care, I commiaed to acquire the competencies necessary for a Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health. My goal was to ensure that women and their significant others had a posi\ve experience during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, thereby op\mizing the health outcomes for both the mother and the newborn as they transi\on to extrauterine life. Given the contemporary emphasis on evidence-based nursing, this internship included a research component in the form of an integra\ve literature review. The theme of this review was: "The Influence of Labor Induc\on on the Experience and Sa\sfac\on with Childbirth. To conduct this review, an extensive search was performed in the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL Complete, and SCOPUS. Ar\cles were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the results were organized using a PRISMA diagram and presented narra\vely. The level of evidence and methodological quality of the studies were evaluated using tools recommended by the Joanna Briggs Ins\tute. The experience of providing care to women and their families during labor and delivery significantly enhanced my technical-scien\fic, human, and rela\onal skills. Analysis of the integra\ve literature review revealed that women who underwent labor induc\on reported lower sa\sfac\on with their childbirth experience compared to those who experienced spontaneous labor.
