Abstract(s)
Working Alliance Inventory – Short Revised e a versão portuguesa da Tampa Scale of
Kinesiophobia.
portuguesa da Patient Global Impression of Change. Este estudo seguiu as
recomendações da COSMIN (Consensus-based Standards for the selection of Health
Measurement Instruments).
Revista (IAT-RR) (rs = 0,451, p<0,001). O valor estimado do erro padrão de medida
(EPM) foi de 5,197 (IC 95%: 4,525-5,857) e o da diferença mínima detetável (DMD) de
Introduction: The therapeutic relationship is a construct that has gained increasing importance in the in the context of musculoskeletal physiotherapy care. The Escala de Relación Terapéutica Centrada en la Persona en Fisioterapia (RTCP-F) assesses the person-centered therapeutic relationship in physical therapy. This study aimed to contribute for the validation of the RTCP-F for use in Portugal. Methodology: A longitudinal study was carried out with a sample of individuals diagnosed with a musculoskeletal condition, undergoing physiotherapy treatments. In the initial assessment (T0), all participants filled in a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Portuguese version of the RTCP-F, the Portuguese version of the Working Alliance Inventory – Short Revised and the Portuguese version of the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia. After 4 to 7 days, in the intermediate evaluation (T1) and after 6 weeks, in the final evaluation (T2), all participants completed the RTCP-F-VP and the Portuguese version of the Patient Global Impression of Change. This study followed the recommendations of COSMIN (Consensus-based Standards for the selection of Health Measurement Instruments). Results: This study included 154 participants, of which 132 also participated in the intermediate assessment (T1) and 80 in the final assessment (T2). Regarding the construct validity, the convergent validation was partially confirmed, as it was verified that there was a positive, moderate, and significant association between the total score of the RTCP F-VP and the total score of the Working Alliance Inventory – Short Revised (WAI-SR) (rs = 0,451, p<0,001). The standard error of measurement (SEM) was 5,197 (CI 95%: 4,525-5,857), and the minimum detectable difference (MDD) was 14,405. “Ceiling” effects for the total score of the scale (84.42%) and for all items were verified. The study of responsiveness did not support the relation between the RTCP-F-VP and Patient Global Impression of Change. Conclusion: This study contributed to the validation of the RTCP-F-VP, however the results do not support, at the moment, its use in clinical practice and research, within the Portuguese population. Future studies, including strategies to minimize the percentage of “ceiling” effects and with larger samples to estimate the responsiveness and interpretability, are recommended.
