| dc.description.abstract | O setor avícola é dos setores mais profissionalizados, competitivos, dinâmicos e com maior significado económico na pecúaria nacional. Motivado pelo crescente consumo de carne de aves a nível nacional e mundial, nomeadamente a carne de peru, a presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo fazer uma revisão da literatura existente até à data relativamente ao maneio de perus comerciais. Deste modo, irá ser acompanhado todo o ciclo produtivo do peru comercial desde a fase de cria até à fase de engorda, evidenciando todos os fatores que influenciam o nível de desempenho, bem-estar e sanidade dos animais. Salienta-se também o uso racional de medidas de biossegurança que visam controlar e prevenir o aparecimento de doenças e agentes infeciosos numa unidade de produção. Concluimos que, um maneio correto e eficaz e uma boa gestão da exploração, conduz a um maior sucesso económico desta. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The poultry sector is the more industrialized, competitive, dynamic and with greater economic impact in national livestock industry. Motivated by the growing consumption of poultry meat at global and country level including turkey meat, this thesis aims to review the literature to date regarding the management of commercial turkeys.The thesis focusses on the full production cycle of the commercial turkey, from the stage of the growing period to the fattening stage, showing all the factors that have an effect on the level of performance, well-being and health of the animals. The rational use of biosecurity measures is also discussed as a mean to control and prevent the onset of diseases and infectious agents in a production unit. We conclude that a correct and efficient management of the holding leads to greater economic success. | pt_PT |
