Abstract(s)
The present work aims to perform the pre-dimensioning of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for the municipality of Magé, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The methodological development is carried out through bibliographical research, consultation of existing norms and legislation for the theme, survey of information from the study area and the pre-dimensioning of the different bodies that constitute the proposed WWTP.For the treatment of the liquid phase, the treatment scheme is proposed by: screening, desanding, primary decantation, complete-mix activated sludge system and secondary decantation with recycle of biological sludge and extraction of excess sludge. For the treatment of the solid phase, the proposed treatment scheme consists of: gravity thickening, stabilization by anaerobic digestion and dewatering by bed drying. The results show that, considering the proposed treatment scheme, a minimum surface area of approximately 2 hectares will be required for the construction of the WWTP. The suggested location considered aspects such as the altimetry of the terrain, the proximity of the river for the discharge of the treated effluent, the distance from the urban center, and the proximity to the road network. It is concluded that the proposed treatment respects the Brazilian legislation, considering that the quality of the treated effluent complies with the discharge limits legally required. As a suggestion for future work, an economic feasibility study of the project is proposed.
