Auditoria energética em estações de tratamento de água

| dc.description.abstract | Resumo A eficiência energética tem sido um objetivo perseguido e estudado por muitos atores em muitos setores de atividade. No setor do tratamento de águas e águas residuais tem havido alguns avanços no sentido de serem estudadas e aplicadas as melhores práticas de atuação sobre o desempenho energético, através da utilização de procedimentos sistemáticos, dado estas infraestruturas serem um importante consumidor energético a nível nacional. Assim, no presente trabalho foi desenvolvida uma metodologia de auditoria energética, com base nos referenciais normativos e legais em vigor, e realizada uma auditoria à ETAR de Espinho, distrito de Aveiro, Portugal, para se determinar o seu desempenho energético e identificar oportunidades de melhoria. A auditoria foi dividida nas seguintes fases: (1) determinação de indicadores de desempenho, aplicados em diferentes fases do tratamento, seguida de (2) análise do desempenho energético para a determinação de medidas de otimização e respetiva avaliação da relação custo/eficácia. Os resultados revelam que a ETAR de Espinho apresenta oportunidades de melhoria no sistema de digestão anaeróbia (otimização das condições de mistura e escoamento e identificação de fatores limitantes), no sistema de cogeração (melhoramento da pureza do biogás e eficiência do sistema) e na estação elevatória inicial (melhoria da eficiência dos mecanismos). Revelou-se também necessária uma análise mais aprofundada do sistema de recirculação de lamas. Adicionalmente, identificaram-se oportunidades de melhoria do sistema de gestão de informação da ETAR. Com base no trabalho realizado, será possível intervir na ETAR de Espinho e melhorar alguns dos aspetos operacionais em termos de eficiência energética. Palavras-chave: Eficiência energética, ETAR, Auditoria energética. Abstract Energy efficiency has been, for some time, a prosecuted and studied object by many actors in several activity sectors. Concerning water and wastewater treatment, there have been some advances regarding the study and application of best practices to address the energy performance through systematic procedures, due to such infra- structures being important energy consumers in national level. Therefore, in the present study, an energy audit approach was developed, based on existing norms and legislation, and an energy audit performed to the Espinho Wastewater Treatment Plan (WWTP), located at the Aveiro district, Portugal, in order to assess its energy performance and identify improvement opportunities. The approach was divided in two steps: (1) key performance indicators were determined in the different phases of the treatment; (2) a deeper analysis of the performance indicators was developed for the determination of optimization measures and of their cost/efficiency relation. The results revealed that Espinho WWTP presents improvement opportunities located at the anaerobic digestion process (e.g., mixture and flow optimization as well as identification of limiting factors), the cogeneration stage (e.g., improvement of biogas purity and overall system efficiency) and the initial pumping systems (e.g., improvement of the mechanisms efficiency). This study also revealed as important a deeper analysis of the sludge recirculation system. Additionally, there is a need to improve the WWTP data management system. Based on this work, it will be possible to intervene on Espinho WWTP and to improve some operational aspects regarding its energy efficiency performance.
