Face ao plano de manter a operação do F16 na Força Aérea até 2030, este trabalho de investigação tem como objetivo analisar e compreender como poderá o SA F16 operar com as aeronaves de quinta geração aliadas.
Analisou-se as missões que o F16 poderá desempenhar quando envolvido em operações com aeronaves de quinta geração, bem como os equipamentos que serão necessários para garantir a integração com estas plataformas, e os que permitirão manter o Sistema de Armas relevante. Foi igualmente estudado, as adaptações que poderão ter de ser efetuadas no treino e fontes de conhecimento avançado dos pilotos.
Como metodologia, foi utilizado o raciocínio hipotético-dedutivo, com base numa estratégia qualitativa, através da análise documental e entrevistas.
Apurou-se que a capacidade de integração com plataformas de quinta geração será crucial para a participação em futuros cenários com ameaças avançadas, mantendo-se, no entanto, a tipologia de missões atuais.
Conclui-se, da investigação, que o F16 será relevante para as futuras operações com aeronaves de quinta geração, se apostar na evolução e modernização constante do sistema de armas, apesar de já existir uma lacuna tecnológica que tenderá a aumentar nos próximos anos. Abstract: Faced with the plan to maintain the operation of the F16 in the Air Force by 2030, this research work aims to analyze and understand how the F16 weapons system can operate with allied fifth generation aircraft.
The missions that the F16 could carry out when operating with fifth-generation aircraft, as well as the equipment that will be needed to ensure integration with these platforms, and those that will enhance the relevant Weapons System, were analyzed. It was also studied the adaptations that may have to be made in the training and sources of advanced knowledge of the pilots.
As a methodology, hypothetical-deductive reasoning was used, based on a qualitative strategy, through document analysis and interviews.
It was found that the ability to integrate with fifth generation platforms will be crucial for participation in future scenarios with advanced threats, while the typology of current missions will be maintained.
It is concluded from the investigation that the F16 will be relevant for future operations with fifth generation aircraft, if it is committed to the constant evolution and modernization of the weapons system, although there is already a technological gap that will tend to increase in the next years.
