Abstract(s)
As ocorrências criminais com armas de fogo não são exclusivamente internas de um
país, tendo atravessado toda a Europa devido à abertura das fronteiras entre os Estados Membros da União Europeia e a livre circulação de pessoas e bens.
Relacionar, pois, vários crimes cometidos com a mesma arma de fogo em diferentes
países, torna-se uma tarefa hercúlea se a tecnologia científica, em concreto a balística
identificativa através das correlações efetuadas nas bases de dados, não estiver ao serviço da
justiça e da segurança dos cidadãos.
Efetuou-se uma análise das caraterísticas técnicas e das potencialidades do formato
de arquivo XML x3p como uma ferramenta de envio e receção de ficheiros com dados
balísticos, projéteis ou cartuchos, que permita correlacionar os casos em investigação com
as bases de dados de casos abertos – pendentes, existentes nos laboratórios de Polícia
Científica da Europa.
Os ficheiros x3p mostraram potencialidades no auxílio, não só para produção de
meios de prova pericial, como também para produção de inteligência útil para a investigação.
Criminal occurrences involving firearms are not exclusively internal to one country, but have crossed all Europe due to the opening of borders between European Union Member States and the free movement of persons and goods. Therefore, relating several crimes committed with the same firearm in different countries becomes a Herculean task if scientific technology, specifically ballistics identification through correlations made in databases, is not at the service of justice and citizens' safety. An analysis of the technical characteristics and potentialities of the XML x3p file format was carried out as a tool for sending and receiving files with ballistic data, projectiles or cartridges, allowing the correlation of cases under investigation with the databases of open cases or pending ones, existing in the forensic science laboratories of Europe. The x3p files showed potentialities in helping, not only for the production of expert evidence, but also for the production of useful intelligence for the investigation.
