Abstract(s)
In patients who are partially or completely edentulous, there is a continuous resorption of the alveolar ridge, reducing the quantity and quality of vertical and horizontal bone. Various approaches have been introduced to rehabilitate the edentulous areas with implants. Two main approaches are used to restore the necessary bone height for implant placement: the lateral sinus lift approach and the transcrestal approach. Both have become very common practices in the field of surgery. Beyond the knowledge required by dental surgeons in the approach to maxillary sinus lift surgeries, new techniques and instruments are used in practice to facilitate and reduce the risks of this intervention, improving the comfort of both the practitioner and the patient. These are known as minimally invasive techniques. In this monograph, the different factors that can impact the conditions for successful surgical interventions are addressed. The main anatomical risks encountered, and their potential influence are discussed, the ways to address these various characteristics in the planning of treatments and the practice of dental surgeons are explored.
