O presente trabalho investiga o efeito de uma intervenção educativa em primeiros socorros na formação de professores/as. A importância de tal formação é evidenciada pela frequência com que os/as profissionais de educação se deparam com situações de urgência e emergência em contexto escolar, que requerem respostas rápidas e eficazes. O principal objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar se um conjunto de sessões sobre primeiros
socorros poderia contribuir para a melhoria de competências nesse domínio em futuros/as professores/as. A pesquisa teve a seguinte questão de partida: "Como a formação em primeiros socorros afeta as competências de professores/as em situações de emergência?" A metodologia adotada foi de caráter quantitativo sendo o estudo exploratório e descritivo, realizado em intervalos semanais. Os temas abordados foram diversificados variando de hemorragias e queimaduras a suporte básico de vida. A avaliação de competências foi realizada através do questionário “School Staff First Aid Knowledge Test” (SSFAKT), administrado antes e após a intervenção realizada. Os resultados mostram uma melhoria de competências dos e das participantes nos domínios abordados. As conclusões reiteram a premência de incluir temáticas de primeiros socorros nos currículos de formação inicial docente como medida de preparação para situações de urgência e emergência em contextos escolares.
The current study explores the impact of a first aid intervention in the training of future teachers. The significance of this training is underscored by the frequency with which educational professionals encounter emergency situations in school settings, requiring quick and effective responses. The main objective of this research was to evaluate whether a series of first aid sessions could contribute to enhancing competencies in this area among future teachers. The research was guided by the following question: "How does first aid training affect teachers' competencies in emergency situations?" The methodology adopted was quantitative in nature, with an exploratory and descriptive study, carried out at weekly intervals. The study adopted a quantitative methodology, with the exploratory and descriptive study being conducted on a weekly basis. Topics covered varied from bleeding and burns to basic life support. Competencies were assessed using the School Staff First Aid Knowledge Test (SSFAKT) questionnaire, administered both before and after the intervention. The findings show an improvement in the participants competencies in the areas addressed. The study concludes with the urgency of including first aid topics in initial teacher training curricula as a preparatory measure for urgent and emergency situations in educational settings.
