Abstract(s)
Work is a central dimension of human life, not only as a means of subsistence, but also as a source of identity and personal fulfillment. In recent years, the topic of work-life balance and job satisfaction has gained prominence in the literature, reflecting a growing concern for employee well-being. At the same time, the advancement of digital technologies has boosted remote work, promoting greater flexibility and autonomy, but also raising new challenges, such as the difficulty in establishing clear boundaries between professional and personal life. This study aims to analyze the moderating effect of remote work on this relationship between work-life balance and job satisfaction and to explore the direct relationship between work-life balance and job satisfaction. To this end, a quantitative methodology was adopted, with a cross-sectional design. The sample was collected for convenience and consisted of 240 participants, and an online questionnaire was used as a data collection technique. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software, using model 1 of the PROCESS macro for moderation analysis. The results demonstrated that worklife balance is positively related to job satisfaction, confirming hypothesis 1 of the study. In contrast, remote work did not present a statistically significant moderating effect on the relationship between balance and satisfaction, contradicting hypothesis 2. Despite this, it was found that employees working remotely reported higher levels of satisfaction, which suggests that this work model can, in itself, contribute to employee wellbeing. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the factors that influence job satisfaction, highlighting the importance of promoting organizational policies that favor balance between the professional and personal spheres. At the same time, it highlights the need for greater caution in generalizing the benefits of remote work, as its effects may vary depending on the context and individual characteristics of employees. In short, the results reinforce the central role of work-life balance as a predictor of job satisfaction and point to the importance of considering multiple variables intervening in the relationship between work context and employee wellbeing.
