Abstract(s)

"Guernica-Gernikara”, which could be the title of this thesis, became an emblematic phrase that translates the aspiration of the local people to see this artwork moved to the Basque Country´s birthplace. This paper analyzes the relevance acquired by Picasso mural on the tourist motivation to visit the city and its many tourist attractions. For this purpose, we will attempt to analyze the role played by the artwork in the emergence and growth of military tourism in this city, starting from the concept of dark tourism, which has benefited from an important development in recent years. Encompassing tourism in Spain, European country where the tourism sector is particularly prominent, this sector of the tourism has a huge potential that is currently beginning to be exploited.
