O cancro oral representa uma séria preocupação para a saúde pública, sendo notada uma tendência crescente de afetar indivíduos jovens, tanto do sexo masculino como feminino. A consciencialização pública sobre esta condição é limitada, resultando em muitos pacientes a serem diagnosticados em estágios avançados da doença, o que, por sua vez, contribui para taxas elevadas de mortalidade.
Neste contexto, o objetivo deste estudo é estabelecer uma relação clara e compreender a influência da saúde oral na qualidade de vida de pacientes diagnosticados com cancro oral. A revisão de literatura visa aprofundar a compreensão dos efeitos da saúde oral nesse contexto, explorando como a condição oral influencia a qualidade de vida dos pacientes no pós-tratamento. Durante esta fase, a saúde oral desempenha um papel crítico, influenciando a capacidade do paciente de enfrentar os desafios físicos, emocionais e sociais que surgem durante a jornada do cancro oral.
A tese fundamenta-se em estudos e evidências anteriores, procurando identificar tendências que permitam uma compreensão mais aprofundada e uma avaliação crítica dos desafios enfrentados pelos pacientes. Os resultados desta revisão têm o potencial de oferecer contribuições significativas e recomendações práticas que podem ser aplicadas por profissionais de saúde, permitindo uma melhor gestão da saúde oral em pacientes com cancro oral. A tese, portanto, aspira a contribuir para a melhoria da qualidade de vida desses indivíduos durante a recuperação, ao reconhecer e abordar as questões de saúde oral que podem afetar significativamente a sua jornada.
Oral cancer represents a serious concern for public health, with a noted increasing trend of affecting young individuals, both males and females. Public awareness of this condition is limited, resulting in many patients being diagnosed at advanced stages of the disease, which in turn contributes to high mortality rates. In this context, the aim of this study is to establish a clear relationship and understand the influence of oral health on the quality of life of patients diagnosed with oral cancer. The literature review aims to deepen the understanding of the effects of oral health in this context, exploring how the oral condition influences the quality of life of patient's post-treatment. During this phase, oral health plays a critical role, influencing the patient's ability to cope with the physical, emotional and social challenges that arise during the oral cancer journey. The thesis is grounded in previous studies and evidence, seeking to identify trends that allow for a deeper understanding and critical assessment of the challenges faced by patients. The results of this review have the potential to offer significant contributions and practical recommendations that can be applied by healthcare professionals, allowing for better management of oral health in patients with oral cancer. The thesis, therefore, aspires to contribute to improving the quality of life of these individuals during recovery by recognizing and addressing oral health issues that can significantly impact their journey.
