Abstract(s)
Bullying may occur in any school independently of the country region. This study is based on the investigation done during the school year 2012/2013 in a public school situated in a rural town of Alentejo, including a total of 87 participants from 5 classes of the 3rd (third) and 4th (fourth) grades. It is an investigation of quantitative and qualitative nature aiming to contribute to the knowledge of children's social behaviour patterns in school, having the relational dynamics of some children and classes been also analyzed. The study intends to characterize the phenomenon of bullying, its different forms (reported by students themselves) and the places inside school where they occur more frequently. Finally, it aims to establish the relation between the social integration in the peer group and the several social behaviour patterns (from the self and peer perspectives). Addressing a topic quite chosen in the scope of several investigations, this study intends to be a contribution to add knowledge about the phenomenon, looking for behaviours in schools in a rural zone of Alentejo. It's concluded that comparatively to Pereira's study (2008), the percentage of victims and aggressors is lower, which can be explained by the fact that this study has been done in a southern rural area, contrary to Pereira's study (in northern urban areas).
