Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho de investigação tem como objetivo estudar as motivações que
estiveram na base da decisão dos militares para o ingresso na Força Aérea (FA) em Regime
de Contrato (RC), de modo a aferir a sua evolução, tanto ao nível das expectativas
percecionadas relativamente às funções desempenhadas como ao nível dos fatores que
estiveram na origem da escolha da especialidade.
De acordo com a investigação realizada, a atração pelos valores característicos da vida
militar constitui o fator preponderante na motivação dos jovens a ingressar na FA em RC.
Já a escolha da especialidade tende a se efetuar mais em função da equivalência às
qualificações que possuem anteriormente ao ingresso na FA e não tanto em função do que
consideram ser a sua vocação.
Por outro lado, entre a frequência da Instrução Complementar (IC) (momento inicial
de investigação) e o exercício de funções, no terceiro ano de RC (momento final de
investigação), verifica-se uma diferenciação nas expectativas sobre a prestação de serviço
militar. Relativamente à perceção das expectativas entre categorias, ela tende a diferenciarse
somente na frequência da IC, sendo que ao fim do terceiro ano de funções, as expectativas
entre as categorias não apresentam diferenças significativas. Abstract: This investigation’s objective is to study the motivations that led to the decision of
joining the Air Force under a fixed-term contract, in order to assess its evolution, both in
relation to the perceived expectations regarding the functions performed, as to the level of
the factors that led to the choice of a specific area.
According to the results obtained on this investigation, young people join the Air Force
because they live the values and characteristics of the military life. The choice of a specific
area tends to be influenced by their previous qualification and education and not by what
they consider to be their vocation.
On the other hand, during the period between the complementary instruction (initial
moment of investigation) and their third year of contract (final moment of investigation), we
verify that their expectations regarding the military duty changes. The difference of
perspectives and expectations between categories tend to be significant only during the
complementary instruction phase. By the end of the third year of contract the expectations
between categories do not present significant differences.
