| dc.description.abstract | O Capitão-de-fragata Jaime Correia do Inso, filho de José Correia do Inso e de D. Francisca da Graça Mendes Farinha, nasceu em 1880, na vila de Nisa, distrito de Portalegre e morreu em Lisboa, com 87 anos, em 1967. Tendo vivido numa época conturbada da história de Portugal, assistindo aos regimes da Monarquia Constitucional, I República e Estado Novo, terá escolhido a carreira militar naval devido à exaltação dos sentimentos de patriotismo e necessidade do Império despoletados na nação pelo Ultimato Britânico. No seu percurso profissional destaca-se o contacto com as colónias e, sobretudo, as viagens a Macau, cidade pela qual se deixaria deslumbrar e alvo de grande parte da sua obra literária. Neste trabalho estuda-se a conjuntura política e social a nível nacional, a evolução da Armada e o caminho que Jaime forja para melhor compreender quem teria sido na sua natureza humana concluindo que seria um orientalista por excelência. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Captain Jaime Correia do Inso, son of José Correia do Inso and Mrs. Francisca da Graça Mendes Farinha, was born in 1880, in the village of Nisa, Portalegre district and passed away in Lisbon, with 87 years, in 1967. Having lived in a troubled time of the history of Portugal, going trough the Constitutional Monarchy, the First Republic and the New State regimens, he would have chosen the naval military career due to the elevation of the patriotic sentiments and the urge for the Empire triggered troughout the nation by the British In his professional path, the contact with the colonies stands out and mostly, his trips to Macau, city by which he would let himself be amazed and the target of almost all his literary work. In this paper, the national political and social conjuncture, the evolution of the Navy and the route that Jaime forges are studied to better understand who he would have been in his human nature concluding that he would have an Orientalist by excellency. | pt_PT |
