The Public Security Police (PSP) is a uniformed and armed security force, whose operational activity is characterized by high levels of risk. Being a police officer entails performing essential functions to ensure internal security, maintain public order, prevent and investigate crimes, and protect people and property. In this context, the integration of combat sports into police training and practice plays a decisive role in preparing officers and agents for effective, proportional, and safe interventions in violent situations. Due to their technical and pedagogical specificities, disciplines such as judo or Krav maga significantly contribute to the development of physical and tactical skills, while also enhancing endurance and agility, which are indispensable for police action in high-risk contexts, particularly those involving firearms, bladed weapons, or other means of aggression. Beyond the technical dimensions, combat sports exert a significant influence on the consolidation of self-confidence and self-control among law enforcement professionals. This study analyses, based on specialized literature and the operational reality of the PSP, the potential benefits of the regular practice of combat sports in daily police performance. It also identifies possible gaps in the post-training period and presents recommendations for a more systematic and continuous integration of these practices throughout the training and professional career.
