Abstract(s)
Clearly recognised, cyberspace is a domain that is present in everyone's daily life, invariably in terms of their personal or professional life. In the daily work of police officers, this domain is also unavoidable. In recent years, the PSP has been adapting to the rapid pace of technological evolution and changing forms of crime, and the creation of a centre dedicated to this phenomenon is proof of this. However, the lack of specialised training in prevention for its own professionals is an alarming reality that needs to be addressed. The core of the study focused on analysing the behaviour and attitudes that police officers have towards cybersecurity. A quantitative research methodology approach was used, using a questionnaire to collect data on the cybersecurity behaviours and attitudes of COMETLIS police officers. The results revealed that the respondents have appropriate attitudes when using cyberspace. In addition, it was possible to reveal that the "age group" factor has an influence on their cybersecurity behaviour, while the police rank factor did not show any significant differences. Finally, police officers consider it useful to implement a Quick Reference Guide on cybersecurity in the PSP. This shows that COMETLIS police officers are aware of the importance of protecting themselves from threats in cyberspace. This study contributes to an understanding of the current state of cybersecurity and cyber hygiene among COMETLIS police officers, which, although positive, also points to the ongoing need for training and awareness-raising in this area.
