Abstract(s)
Loss of mobility prevents people from carrying out their self-care to the full. In addition, prolonged immobility can have repercussions in terms of morbidity, mortality, psychological and social conditions, as well as a significant increase in health costs. Due to their specific skills, Rehabilitation Nurse Specialists are the health professionals best qualified to intervene with people with mobility impairments, as well as their families, in order to enable them to carry out activities of daily living, thus contributing to improving the person's functionality, preventing further complications, such as longer hospital stays, maximising their independence and autonomy, and increasing their quality of life and well-being. As a general objective, the aim is to identify the results that are sensitive to the intervention of the Rehabilitation Nurse Specialist in the empowerment of people with mobility impairment and their families, namely to develop scientific, technical, ethical and human skills for the specialized care of people with rehabilitation care needs. The activities carried out, associated with comprehensive and up-to-date scientific research, critical and reflective thinking and adaptation to the needs of each context, provided the acquisition of technical, ethical, scientific, communicational and relational skills, which translated into Specialized care (common and in the area of Rehabilitation), as well as Master's care, making it possible to intervene at all stages of the person's life cycle.
