This study aims to document the process of acquisition and development of competencies of the Maternal and Obstetric Health Nurse Specialist (EEESMO), as well as the attainment of a Master's degree, grounded in care based on Katharine Kolcaba's Comfort Theory (2003). This internship report explores the use of the Snoezelen experience as a non-pharmacological strategy to promote comfort and pain relief during labor. The Snoezelen intervention has expanded its fields of application and proves to be relevant in maternal health by offering sensory experiences that naturally stimulate the sensory system of laboring women, aiming to reduce anxiety, stress and pain levels throughout labor. In the first phase of the research, a Scoping Review was conducted following the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute (2020) to map existing scientific evidence on sensory strategies that promote a positive experience of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, conducted between September and November 2023. In the second phase, a descriptive exploratory qualitative study was carried out between April and June 2024. In this study, the Snoezelen experience was provided to five participants, with interviews conducted and an observation grid applied to analyze how this multisensory strategy can contribute to relaxation and comfort during labor. Content analysis was performed following the stages proposed by Bardin (2016). The results showed that the Snoezelen experience sessions contributed to increased comfort, reflected in pain relief and relaxation for the laboring woman. Key contributions from the Snoezelen experience included improved physical and psychological well-being, pain and stress management, and the integration of a significant person in the labor process. Concluding this journey, I recognize that there is a long path ahead in promoting and applying Snoezelen in labor.
