Abstract(s)
comparativos.
The exponential increase in the elderly population in today's society and as the changes verified in it challenge professionals in this area to develop a set of hard and soft skills in order to be successful. In this sense, the expression of intimacy and sexuality of the elderly, which has historically been impregnated with myths and prejudices, requires technicians from social gerontology to take care that is increasingly specialized and humanized. However, it was found that there is no studies on the relationship between soft skills and perception on intimacy. Therefore, this study aims to define and analyze the relationship between the soft skills of the technical directors of the ERPI and their perception of the sexuality of institutionalized elderly people. For this, a quantitative design was used, with the application of three questionnaires to a sample (n = 208) of technical directors of ERPI in 18 Portuguese municipalities: Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Questionnaire on the Perception of Intimacy and Sexuality of the Elderly and Soft Inventory Skills. After obtaining the data, statistical analyzes were carried out, such as hypothesis verification tests, such as Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient, Student's t test for independent individuals, the Mann-Whitney test and Pearson's correlation, Shapiro and Wilck, and Levene's test. The results show our hypotheses confirmed, which leads us to conclude that there is a significant positive correlation between soft skllis (self-improvement, assertiveness, social support, teamwork, openness to novelty, resilience) and the expression of sexuality and intimacy. In the continuity of this study, it is proposed to carry out empirical studies, with mixed methodologies and with samples from other countries, in order to make comparative studies.
