A Periimplantite é a inflamação dos tecidos adjacentes ao implante dentário que tem sido descrita pela literatura como uma desvantagem deste método de reabilitação oral. A reabilitação de um elemento implanto suportado não exclui a possibilidade de desenvolver, nesse contexto, perda óssea decorrente da periimplantite. As relações interoclusais dentro do sistema estomatognático e a sua dinâmica são de extrema
relevância neste contexto. Quando bem planeado pelo Médico Dentista, as capacidade e orientação do paciente quanto à higienização, a topografia oclusal da peça reabilitadora e os possíveis hábitos parafuncionais são a forma mais estavél de manter a reabilitação. Sobrecargas oclusais associadas à periimplantite podem aumentar a perda óssea ao redor de implantes, levando-os ao insucesso desta reabilitação.
O Objetivo desta revisão bibliográfica é relacionar o trauma oclusal à Periimplantite, tendo como base a pesquisa deste tema nas plataformas PubMed/Medline, B-on; Google Scholar e Scielo.
Periimplantitis is the inflamation of the tissues around the dental implant. In the initial period that osteointegrated implants were discovered and described that many positive aspects were presented. However, the bone loss around implants over time it has been described in cientific literature as a disadvantage of this form of rehabilitation. The restitution of a supported implant element does not exempt the patient from the ability to develop in this context bone loss resulting from peri-implantitis. The interocclusal relationships in the stomatognatic system and its dinamics are extremaly relevant in this relationship. When well planned by the dentist and respecting the capacity and orientation of the patient regarding hygiene, occlusal topography of the rehabilitation piece and possible parafunctional habits it’s a safe form of rehabilitation. However, overloads associated with peri-implantitis can increase bone loss around the implants, leading to failure. The objective of this literary review is to relate oclusal trauma to peri-implantitis, based on the research plataforms: PubMed/Medline, B-on; Google Scholar e Scielo, taking into account the topic addressed.
