| dc.description.abstract | Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) é uma das causas mais frequentes de visita ao médico veterinário. Existem diversos fatores de risco que podem estar relacionados ou que potenciam o aparecimento de FLUTD, algumas das causas mais frequentes são cistite idiopática felina, urolitíase e infeção do trato urinário. O presente estudo consistiu na recolha de dados sobre o tutor, o gato, a história clinica, os recursos ambientais disponibilizados, a habitação, a alimentação e determinar possível associação destas variáveis com o desenvolvimento de FLUTD. A população em estudo incluiu gatos que possuíssem uma característica comum, a ocorrência de FLUTD, a amostra foi um subconjunto de indivíduos que se apresentou no “Hospital do Gato” (Lisboa, Portugal). Com o presente estudo foi possível constatar que existem diversos fatores relacionados com a existência de FLUTD, tais como raça (raça indeterminada: 80,77%), a condição corporal (condição corporal quatro: 50%), o acesso ao exterior (gato de interior: 80,77%), a espécie dos coabitantes (felino: 85,71%), o número de caixas higiénicas (uma caixa: 65,38%) e o material do recipiente da água (plástico: 53,85%). | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The feline Lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is one of the most frequent causes to the veterinary consultation. There are several risk factors that can be related to or potentiate the emergence of FLUTD, the most frequent causes are feline idiopathic cystitis, urethral obstruction and urynary tract infecion. The present study consisted in collecting data from the owner, the cat, the clinical history, the environmental resources available, the housing, the feeding and determine a possible association of these variables with the development of FLUTD. The population under study has one common characteristic, an occurrence of FLUTD, the sample was a subset of cats that went to the "Hospital do Gato" (Lisbon, Portugal). With the fowlling study we can verify that there are several factors with significant statistical differences that are related to the existence of FLUTD, such as race (domestic longhair/shorthair: 80,77%), body condition (body condition four: 50,00%), access to the outside (indoor cat: 80,77%), species of cohabitants (feline: 85,71%), the number of hygienic boxes (one box: 65,38%) and the type of material of the water container (plastic: 53,85%). | pt_PT |
