Abstract(s)
The Master's degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing: The Person in Critical Situation culminates in the preparation of the Final Internship Report. The report aims at a critical and well-founded reflection on the activities developed during the Final Internship, highlighting the development of an Intervention Project. The Final Internship took place in an Intensive Care Medicine Service, with the central theme of the project being post-resuscitation care. Cardiopulmonary Arrest (CPA) is the most severe clinical emergency with the worst prognosis, although it can be reversed. Evidence reveals that the quality of post-CPA care has the potential to increase survival rates In this sense, an Intervention Project was developed based on Project methodology and grounded using the Model for Evidence-Based Practice Change, aiming to address the lack of standardization of nursing procedures for individuals in critical condition after the return of spontaneous circulation. Simultaneously, the project aimed to improve the quality and safety of nursing care. Training was provided to nurses, and a proposal for a post-CPA nursing care procedure standard was developed. The completion of this document also allowed for reflection on the process of acquiring and developing common nursing specialist competencies, specific to the specialist nurse in medical-surgical nursing: the person in critical situation, and master's level nursing competencies throughout the training journey.
