IV Abstract The presented regarding the professional 6 month-trainee, necessary to finish the Master’s Degree on Food Engineering, done in Friopesca – Refrigeração de Aveiro, S.A.. The main objective of this report is to describe the activities realized from January to June, focusing on the quality control of the production line and on the pea packaging and on the loads made. Is also described the methodology of the clients complaints. Friopesca is a factory which targets in the production of frozen food products, such as vegetables, fish, sweets and pre-cooked food. The quality of the products produced in the company is ensured by a wide range of procedures, under the responsibility of the quality control laboratory, which the raw materials and final product are subjected to. The production process (in which the main steps are the blanching and freezing), packing and operators involved in the production process are also controlled. Furthermore, the operation of loading and shipment of the product is under strict control. This internship was an important asset to acquire new experiences and knowledge. It allowed me to connect previous knowledge with practice and to acquire numerous new knowledge. It has also allowed me to have a new perception on the quality control performed in a factory with such a wide range of products. Key words: Friopesca; Raw Materials; Final Product; Quality Control; Blanching; Deep- freezing; Pea.
- Search for pair production of third-generation scalar leptoquarks and top squarks in proton–proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=8 TeVPublication . CMS collaboration (2144 authors); Hollar, Jonathan; Nayak, Aruna; Bargassa, Pedrame; Beirão Da Cruz E Silva, Cristóvão; Faccioli, Pietro; Ferreira Parracho, Pedro Guilherme; Gallinaro, Michele; Nguyen, Federico; Rodrigues Antunes, Joao; Seixas, Joao; Varela, Joao; Vischia, Pietro; Lloret Iglesias, Lara; David Tinoco Mendes, Andre; Musella, Pasquale; Silva, Pedro; Pela, Joao; Leonardo, NunoA search for pair production of third-generation scalar leptoquarks and supersymmetric top quark partners, top squarks, in final states involving tau leptons and bottom quarks is presented. The search uses events from a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC with sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. The number of observed events is found to be in agreement with the expected standard model background. Third-generation scalar leptoquarks with masses below 740 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level, assuming a 100% branching fraction for the leptoquark decay to a tau lepton and a bottom quark. In addition, this mass limit applies directly to top squarks decaying via an R-parity violating coupling lambda'[333]. The search also considers a similar signature from top squarks undergoing a chargino-mediated decay involving the R-parity violating coupling lambda'[3jk]. Each top squark decays to a tau lepton, a bottom quark, and two light quarks. Top squarks in this model with masses below 580 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level. The constraint on the leptoquark mass is the most stringent to date, and this is the first search for top squarks decaying via lambda'[3jk].
- Measurement of the $t \bar t$ production cross section in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt s = 8$ TeV in dilepton final states containing one $\tau$ leptonPublication . CMS collaboration (2144 authors); Hollar, Jonathan; Nayak, Aruna; Bargassa, Pedrame; Beirão Da Cruz E Silva, Cristóvão; Faccioli, Pietro; Ferreira Parracho, Pedro Guilherme; Gallinaro, Michele; Nguyen, Federico; Rodrigues Antunes, Joao; Seixas, Joao; Varela, Joao; Vischia, Pietro; Lloret Iglesias, Lara; David Tinoco Mendes, Andre; Musella, Pasquale; Silva, Pedro; Pela, Joao; Leonardo, NunoThe top-quark pair production cross section is measured in final states with one electron or muon and one hadronically decaying tau lepton from the process ttbar to (l nu[l]) (tau nu[tau]) bbbar, where l = e, mu. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.6 inverse femtobarns collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. The measured cross section sigma[ttbar] = 257 +/- 3 (stat) +/- 24 (syst) +/- 7 (lumi) pb, assuming a top-quark mass of 172.5 GeV, is consistent with the standard model prediction.
