Abstract(s)
Sleep is one of the most important and present factors in the life of every being, being fundamental to humans, especially in the early stages of development, as it is essential during infancy. Sleep, as other inherent activities, must be established through the daily routine with persistency and coherence. It is of utmost importance that children have good sleep habits and rest the recommended and necessary hours, because it is indispensable for a good cognitive, physical and emotional development. This study’s objective is to demonstrate the differences in sleep habits, used by different families in pre-school aged children it the initial learning stages, between three and five year-old. Although in this study there is a reduced population sampling, the results illustrate that it is essential to intervene with families, to promote and present suggestions/orientations in the development of sleep habits as well as creating a sleep routine, this being a practical and important process for the infant’s growth and development.
