Abstract(s)
O presente relatório descreve e analisa o estágio
curricular realizado no âmbito do segundo ano do
Mestrado em Design do Produto e do Espaço, no IADE,
tendo decorrido na empresa NIU Create the New, entre
setembro de 2024 e janeiro de 2025. A experiência teve
clientes, fornecedores e equipas multidisciplinares.
Rainbow, Immersivus Gallery e IKEA e Ritz Lisboa.
This report describes and analyses the curricular internship undertaken during the second year of the Master’s in Product and Space Design at IADE, which took place at the company NIU - Create the New, between September 2024 and January 2025. The experience aimed primarily at consolidating the knowledge acquired throughout the academic journey, through its practical application in real-life contexts, with a particular focus on event design and interior decoration. By integrating into the NIU decoration team, it was possible to participate in all stages of the development of temporary projects, from conceptual planning and 3D modelling to onsite assembly, as well as interacting with clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams. Among the projects followed during this period, the highlights include Wonderland Lisboa, the largest Christmas event in Portugal, and Project R, the decoration of a restaurant involving significant technical complexity and creative relevance. The report reflects on the challenges, learning experiences, and skills developed throughout the internship, with special emphasis on the role of design as a tool for human interaction. The theoretical investigation underpinning this report focuses on design for human interaction, exploring topics such as anticipating the user experience through 3D modelling, balancing creativity, functionality and budget control in temporary events. These themes are further explored through the analysis of case studies such as Over the Rainbow, Immersive Gallery, IKEA and Ritz Lisboa. The report concludes that design for human interaction plays a crucial role in create meaningful experiences, capable of emotionally engaging users and enhancing the value of space, whether in commercial, cultural or leisure contexts.
