| dc.description.abstract | Os Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) configuram-se atualmente como um dos Sistemas de Armas com maior expansão, em termos de aquisição, nos arsenais das principais potências militares. Apesar do seu alargado emprego nos teatros de operação atuais, é de todo pertinente a avaliação das reais capacidades operacionais e vulnerabilidades destes sistemas no âmbito das missões do Poder Aéreo, comparativamente aos sistemas que atualmente as cumprem. Assim, o presente trabalho de investigação, seguindo o método de investigação científico, assenta na análise da capacidade dos UAS em substituir as aeronaves tripuladas nas missões atribuídas ao Poder Aéreo, tendo por base o modelo de análise definido. Para enquadrar o âmbito de emprego dos UAS é efetuada uma prospetiva das tendências futuras da conflitualidade e uma aferição do atual emprego destes sistemas e eventuais impactos legais e éticos. Os UAS, embora incrementadores do espetro de atuação do Poder Aéreo, no sentido em que possibilitam a projeção de poder, sem no entanto projetar a vulnerabilidade humana possuem, eles próprios, vulnerabilidades ao nível da sua dependência em links de comando e controlo e dados, que limitam o seu pleno emprego nas missões atribuídas ao Poder Aéreo. É expectável que, no futuro, se verifique o emprego conjunto de aeronaves tripuladas e não tripuladas, cada uma colmatando as limitações da outra e, no seu conjunto, incrementando as capacidades e espetro de atuação do Poder Aéreo. Assim, e baseado no trabalho de campo efetuado, puderam ser validadas as hipóteses formuladas, respondendo à questão central que orientou este trabalho de investigação. Abstract: The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is now configured as one of the Weapon Systems with more expansion, in terms of acquisition, in the arsenals of the major military powers. Despite its wide use in today’s area of operations, is at all relevant to assessing the actual operational capabilities and vulnerabilities of these systems within the missions of Airpower, compared to systems that currently accomplish them. Thus, this research work, following the method of scientific research, is based on examining the ability of UAS to replace manned aircraft in the missions assigned to air power, based on the analysis model set. To frame the scope of employment of UAS, is made a prospective on future trends of conflict and an assessment of the current employment of these systems and possible legal and ethical impacts. The UAS, although enhancers of the spectrum of performance of Airpower, in the sense that enable the projection of power, without projecting human vulnerability have, themselves, vulnerabilities in terms of its reliance on command, control and data links, that limit their full employment in the missions assigned to Airpower. It is expected that, in future, there is the combined use of manned and unmanned aircraft, each one tackling the limitations of the other and, taken together, increasing the capacities and spectrum of activity of Airpower. Accordingly, and based on fieldwork carried out, the hypotheses could be validated, answering the main question that guided this research work. | por |
