dc.description.abstractEste artigo apresenta resultados de um estudo exploratório sobre os usos e perceções dos meios digitais por jovens portugueses que têm ou tiveram doença oncológica, utilizando o enquadramento teórico dos direitos das crianças, da literacia digital e da literacia mediática para a saúde. Com o objetivo de discutir, em particular, as formas como os jovens utilizam as redes sociais e como gerem a sua privacidade ou exposição enquanto doentes ou ex-doentes de cancro, conduzimos três grupos de foco com 12 participantes entre os 13 e os 22 anos. Os meios digitais oferecem a este grupo oportunidades para entretenimento e contacto durante e depois dos tratamentos, mas colocam desafios relativamente à qualidade de informação de saúde que encontram na internet e à privacidade que os jovens querem garantir, sobretudo durante os tratamentos.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThis article presents the main results of an exploratory study on the uses and perceptions of digital media by Portuguese young people who have or had an oncological disease, using the theoretical framework of children’s rights, digital literacy, and health media literacy. With the purpose of discussing, in particular, the ways in which the young people use social networking sites and how they manage their privacy or visibility while sick with cancer or after the recovery, we conducted three focus groups with 12 participants between 13 and 22 years-old. Digital offer this group opportunities for entertainment and contact during and after treatments, but pose challenges to the quality of health information they find online and to the privacy they want to have, especially during treatments.en
