Abstract(s)
expressivos (barro, desenho, pintura, escrita criativa, biblioterapia), dirigido a pessoas
This report reflects the internship course carried out under the Master`s Degree Course in Nursing in the Area of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing in two different contexts: a psychiatric inpatient service and a community service, both in the metropolitan area of Lisbon. The main objective was to develop specialist nurse skills in mental health based on a program of group interventions, in a psychoeducational and sociotherapeutic approach, using expressive mediators (clay, drawing, painting, creative writing, bibliotherapy), aimed at people with experience of mental illness. The design methodology was used. The intervention program focused on promoting self concept in people with experience of mental illness. Self-concept is a knowledge structure that is related to the process of human development and that is formed from self awareness providing personal adjustment. Semi-structured interviews and field notes were some of the instruments used. In inpatient service, people who were in psychiatric internment with diagnoses of anorexia nervosa and compromised self-concept were selected, and six interventions were performed. In the community context, with the same objective, five sessions were held in therapeutic group, which varied between eight and ten people. Socio-therapeutic intervention using expressive mediators proved to be an important resource that promotes self-reflection, self-knowledge, self-perception and expression of emotions. The evaluation of the program, of nursing interventions through the use of expressive mediators, allowed us to state that it is possible to promote well-being, self awareness and self-concept with people in order to value, explore and respect the meaning of their experiences of mental health problems and provide a practice centered on the person and his/her recovery
