O arroz como potenciador do Ecoturismo no Baixo Mondego

| dc.description.abstract | Resumo A região do Baixo Mondego (NUT III) apresenta uma tradição histórica de produzir arroz nos terrenos ladeados pelas águas do Mondego. Para além do apreciado Arroz Carolino aqui produzido, esta tradição secular gerou ao longo dos anos forte riqueza no que concerne a património cultural, influenciando modos de vida, tradições, festas, gastronomia, indústrias, paisagem, etc. Atualmente vive-se numa época em que existem cada vez mais turistas que procuram mais do que turismo de massas, valorizando experiências e o contacto com diverso património cultural e natural, característico das diversas regiões, o que faz gerar novas oportunidades turísticas que vêm permitir explorar recursos com potencialidade turística que estiveram até então subaproveitados, como é o caso da orizicultura no Baixo Mondego. É neste pano de fundo que se inscreve e se justifica o presente trabalho, composto por seis capítulos nos quais é feita a contextualização do tema, a caracterização da região a nível, fisio-geográfico, sociodemográfico e turístico, a apresentação de um projeto de ecoturismo aliado à orizicultura, potenciador, valorizador e dinamizador da região em questão. Apresentam-se, ainda, alguns indicadores turísticos, bem como um estudo realizado através de inquéritos, com intenção de analisar a procura turística da região. Este projeto de ecoturismo, de seu nome Aguilhada foi concebido de modo a que venha a dignificar e valorizar património cultural da orizicultura, vindo a proporcionar momentos e experiências diferenciadoras a turistas e visitantes, através de várias infraestruturas e diferentes atividades culturais, sendo que simultaneamente a região beneficiará de vários impactos, que a destacarão no meio turístico. Palavras-chave: Ecoturismo; Turismo Cultural; Orizicultura; Arroz; Baixo Mondego Abstract The Baixo Mondego region presents a historical tradition of rice production in the fields flanked by the waters of Mondego. Apart from the exquisite Caroline rice which is cultivate here, this secular tradition has caused great wealth over the years as far the cultural heritage, by influencing ways of life, traditions, festivities, gastronomy, landscape, etc. Nowadays, we are living in a age where there are increasing numbers of tourists looking for more than mass tourism, giving value to experiences and the contact with the diverse cultural and natural heritage, characteristic of the various regions, creating new touristic opportunities enabling the exploitation of resources with tourist potential were up to now unused, such as the rice cultivation in the Baixo Mondego. It is in this context that the present work is justified and included, where the subject matter in question is contextualized, the region is characterized at physio-geographic, socio- demographic and tourist level, an ecotourism project allied to the cultivation of rice is presented and promoting and streamlining the same. Touristic positive indicators are presented in order to justify the viability of this project, as well as a study carried out by means of surveys made to tourists, with the intention of analysing the tourist demand of the region. This project of ecotourism named Aguilhada has been designed in order to dignify and value the cultural heritage of rice cultivation, affording both tourists and visitors different moments and experiences by means of various infra-structures and different cultural activities being that simultaneously the region will benefit from various impacts , which will distinguish it in the touristic environment.
