Abstract(s)
Religious tourism is considered one of the oldest forms of tourism and has been growing year after year, becoming one of the exponential reasons that lead people to move around the world. Accessibility has also been a recurring theme and has been gaining strength and visibility in all spheres of society, demanding an adaptation of spaces to meet this demand. In this work, it was decided to unite these two themes, which are equally relevant, but do not usually appear interconnected and due to insufficient studies on this topic, it is expected to contribute to a better understanding of accessibility with application to religious tourism, also enabling the continuation of this study, as it is a very broad topic. For this purpose, a bibliographic research was carried out and later an exploratory research with the application of interviews and direct observation, carried out in the Sanctuary of Fátima, to analyze the potentialities and deficiencies of the same in the vision of its visitors, as in the vision of those responsible. The Sanctuary of Fátima was chosen due to its great national relevance and worldwide and the study focused on people with disabilities who use wheelchairs to locomotion, elderly people with canes and, moreover, pregnant women, who despite not being considered deficient, present a certain limitation that also does not allow great displacements in an agile and comfortable way. After analyzing the collected data, it was possible to conclude that the destination is able to receive visitors with such limitations and, mainly, that these people are satisfied with the reception and structural offer found, in addition to indicate the visit to other people under the same conditions, which leads us to believe that the issue of accessibility can be a decisive factor in the choice of destination and helps to raise the importance of the Sanctuary in the panorama of world religious tourism.
