A difusão de fundos ou coleções fotográficas é, geralmente, realizada com recurso a bases de dados que podem apresentar diferentes configurações, consoante a entidade custodiante. Temos por um lado, as coleções fotográficas que estão integradas em museus, os quais usam bases de dados direcionadas para a descrição de objetos de arte de diversas categorias como é o caso do Matriznet; por outro lado, as coleções que integram as bibliotecas e centros de documentação, que são descritas sob um cariz bibliográfico; e por último, as custodiadas por arquivos usando as bases de dados de normalização arquivística.
É este último modelo que a presente comunicação pretende abordar, destacando a análise das funcionalidades do software de arquivo AtoM, software livre disponibilizado pelo ICA (Conselho Internacional de Arquivos) como ferramenta para a descrição, indexação e difusão no caso dos arquivos fotográficos. O AtoM é baseado na normalização internacional ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), ISDIAH e ISDF. Nesta análise pretende-se examinar as suas potencialidades fragilidades, oportunidades e ameaças, tomando como exemplo o projeto em curso de difusão de fotografia de arquitetura do Arquivo Fotográfico Teófilo Rego (Museu Casa da Imagem – Fundação Manuel Leão).
In general, the dissemination of photographic archival fonds or collections is carried out by databases, which can be presented with different configurations depending on the institution that has the photos’ custody. For the one hand, there are sets of photos in the museums, using databases usually directed to art collections for their catalogation, such as Matriznet; on the other hand, there are libraries and documentation centers using bibliographic catalogation on photographs; moreover, there are several archives containing photographic fonds and collections, usually cataloguing them through archive’s standards. The present communication intends to focus on the last topic, analyzing the functionalities of AtoM (Access to Memory) as a tool for cataloguing, indexing and disseminating photographic archives. This free software from ICA (International Council on Archives) is based on the international standards ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), ISDIAH and ISDF. It will be analyzed its straight, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, taking as example the on going project about architectural photography of the Teofilo Rego Photographic Archive (Museu Casa da Imagem –Manuel Leão Foundation).
