Abstract(s)
The technological and medical advances made throughout the twentieth century have led to practices in obstetrics increasingly focused on professionals. Childbirth, previously considered a natural and innate event, began to be dominated by interventionism, with consequent interference in the physiological process, devaluating women's preferences and minimizing their ability to give birth. It is in this context that midwife can assume a central role for the normalization of childbirth, implementing a care model that promotes informed choices and decision-making involvement and provides freedom for the parturient, enabling her to achieve an positive childbirth experience. The present report seeks to reflect the acquirement of competencies of midwife and master's degree, describing and analysing the course carried out in the context of the Internship with Report, inserted in the 9thCMESMO of ESEL, which was boosted by the implementation of the project titled: Freedom of movement for normal childbirth: woman-centered care. Brendan McCormack and Tanya McCance's Theory of Person-Centered Nursing was selected as the theoretical guiding reference of care. Methodologically, an evidence-based practice and a reflexive practice was implemented, translated into the description, analysis and reflection of the instituted interventions. Through the Scoping Review, the available scientific evidence on the subject was mapped. During the Internship with Report, an interaction recording instrument was applied and later submitted to content analysis and statistical analysis. The results obtained reflect the protective and promoter role of freedom of movement in the incidence of normal childbirth, providing to the parturient a tool to optimize her experience and manage pain, benefits that add to the reduction in the duration of labour, the risk of perineal trauma and the improvement of neonatal outcomes. This proves to be a primordial specialized intervention of midwives, capable of respecting the physiology of birth and restoring women's autonomy and protagonism, maximizing their experience of childbirth.
