Abstract(s)
potenciar o desempenho e o desenvolvimento individual e, consequentemente, manter as
Mentoring has proven to be a support tool for People management, capable of enhancing individual performance and development and, consequently, keeping Organizations competitive in an increasingly demanding environment. The mentoring process, established through the relationship between mentor and mentee, can take on a formal or informal character, with formal mentoring established through programs promoted, monitored and evaluated by Organizations with the objective of leveraging personal and professional performance and development of individuals, aiming to achieve organizational goals. The Portuguese Air Force's strategy advocates a Human Resources management capable of empowering its military and catalyzing the Institution, through the collective effort, oriented towards individual growth and progression. The investigation was based on an inductive reasoning methodology, a qualitative research strategy and a case study design, with the respective data collection resulting from documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews, focused on the mentor's role in the development of the military's career of the Air Force. Through the results obtained, it can be concluded that the role of the mentor, framed in a formal mentoring program duly monitored by the Institution, leads to personal, professional and organizational benefits, which is reflected in the career development of the military.
