Road accidents are currently a social and public health problem contributing to many deaths worldwide. Technological development of means of transport and widespread access has inevitably led to accidents and consequently, to death and severe injury of road users. In the last century, several theories have addressed the subject to understand and explain the phenomenon of road accidents, however, despite achieving positive results, the complexity of the theme leads to an effective solution to eradicate the problem still on a distant horizon. The human factor has been identified in recent decades as the main percussor in the occurrence of road accidents. The need to change human behavior in the way they interact in the road system has led to the implementation of policy measures to promote road education for road users. The pioneer countries in the implementation of road education policy measures have achieved significant results in reducing road accidents and inevitably the number of deaths of serious injuries, with those currently presenting the lowest mortality rates.
