No presente trabalho de investigação individual pretendeu-se efetuar uma abordagem sobre a Logística empresarial, a partir de conceitos de gestão da logística praticados por organizações e entidades empresariais na atualidade, de forma a identificar os principais vetores que poderão contribuir para a modernização, eficiência e eficácia da Logística Naval, em particular no que se refere aos modelos, estruturas, políticas de gestão e à tipologia de armazenagem. O estudo foi delimitado à área alimentar, tendo sido abordados de uma forma superficial as áreas das compras. Na pesquisa efetuada foi adotado o método indutivo que incluiu a leitura de obras e trabalhos relacionados com o tema. Foi, ainda, efetuada uma entrevista e visita a uma das maiores empresas portuguesas na área alimentar, o Grupo Jerónimo Martins SA (GJM), que serviu como exemplo de uma entidade empresarial. O trabalho está organizado em quatro capítulos. Como primeiro capítulo, foi efetuado um levantamento do enquadramento legal, dos conceitos, políticas e modelos teóricos principais sobre logística praticados por organizações e entidades empresariais. No segundo e terceiro capítulos, foram efetuadas breves descrições das duas entidades estudadas, DA e o GJM, respetivamente, com maior incidência na organização e tipologia de armazenagem. No quarto capítulo foi efetuada uma comparação entre as duas entidades, de forma a verificar as hipóteses formuladas para a investigação. Para esta investigação, foram formuladas quatro questões e respetivas hipóteses, com o objetivo de responder à seguinte questão central: “De que forma a Logística empresarial poderá contribuir para a modernização, eficiência e eficácia da Logística Naval na área alimentar?” No final desta investigação, verificou-se que existem semelhanças e diferenças entre a DA e o GJM. No entanto, no que respeita aos modelos, estruturas e politicas de gestão e à própria tipologia do armazém, as diferenças que existem são justificadas pelos diferentes objetivos e realidades que as entidades apresentam. Abstract: In this individual research it was intended to make an approach to logistics business, from logistics management concepts practiced nowadays by organizations and business entities in order to identify the main elements that could contribute to the modernization, efficiency and Naval Logistics effectiveness, particularly regarding models, structures, management policies and types of storage. The study was limited to the food supply area, having been approached in a superficial way also purchasing areas, transportation, Food Hygiene and Safety (HSA) and Health and Safety at Work (HST). It was adopted inductive method in the conducted research that included the reading of books and papers related to the topic. It was also conducted an interview and a visit to one of the largest portuguese companies in the food area, Jerónimo Martins SA (GJM), which served as an example of a business entity. The paper is organized into four chapters. As the first chapter, a survey was made of the legal framework, concepts, policies and theoretical models about logistics practiced by organizations and business entities. In the second and third chapters, brief descriptions were made of the two entities studied, DA and GJM, respectively, with greater emphasis on organizing and type of storage. In the fourth chapter a comparison was made between the two entities with the purpose of verifying the hypotheses of the investigation. For this investigation, we formulated four questions and hypotheses in order to answer the following question: "How can Logistics business contribute to the modernization, efficiency and effectiveness of Naval Logistics in the food supply area?"
Therefore at the end of this investigation, it was found that there were similarities and differences between the DA and the GJM. However, with regard to models, structures and management policies and specific type of storage, the differences are explained by the different purposes and realities that the entities show.
