Abstract(s)
usualmente designado Cough Assist®.
Background: This report is part of the Curricular Unit Professional Internship with Report - Module II of the 1st Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing, entitled: “Intervention of the Specialist Nurse in rehabilitation Nursing in Airway Clearance using a Mechanical Insufflator – Exsufflator: Project to Develop Specialised Clinical Skills in Rehabilitation Nursing". The report shows the work carried out during the different clinical contexts and reports on the reflective learning process, as well as the expansion and consolidation of professional awareness from the perspective of the common and specific competences of the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing, more specifically in the area of nursing care for people with cardiorespiratory compromise, through in-depth knowledge in the specialized field of this area and the revelation of high levels of clinical judgment and decision-making, which complement the Specialist Nurse as a Master in Rehabilitation Nursing. Methodology: To respond to the objectives outlined, we explored concepts and through a critical-reflective approach, using the descriptive-analytical method, based on emerging nursing theories and current scientific evidence. Two descriptive case studies were carried out according to the Nursing Ontology inherent in the e4Nursing platform. In view of the domains identified, which were the result of a systematized assessment, a personalized intervention plan was designed and implemented according to the evolution of the target person and the main outcomes resulting from the specialized practice in Rehabilitation Nursing were subsequently reassessed. Results: Carrying out the Internship of a Professional Nature enabled the development and edification of the Common Skills of the Specialist Nurse, as well as the Specific Skills and Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing, with a special focus on the area of attention: Airway Clearance using a Mechanical Insufflator-Exsufflator, usually designate Cough Assist®. Conclusions: This report demonstrates the efficiency and safety of implementing and analysing a Respiratory Rehabilitation Programme aimed at people with compromised airway clearance as a result of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis and traumatic brain injury, with gains in optimizing respiratory functionality, such as improving breathing patterns and mucociliary clearance, which contribute to promoting well-being, quality of life and maximizing functionality and autonomy, as well as improve the health-disease transition process.
