O moderno campo de batalha é atualmente caracterizado pela inovação e pela variedade de tecnologias utilizadas que, com a evolução dos conflitos, têm vindo a desenvolver-se. Neste sentido, em linha com o Direito Internacional Humanitário, existe a contínua preocupação com a vida humana que, tanto quanto possível, se deverá afastar de ações que possam colocar em causa a sua integridade. Os Sistemas Terrestres Não Tripulados são uma opção viável à substituição do elemento humano na condução das operações.
Desta forma, o presente trabalho de investigação tem como objetivo propor um modo de emprego dos Sistemas Terrestres Não Tripulados em unidades de Infantaria, focando-se nas Companhias de Atiradores existentes no Exército Português, identificando as tipologias de sistemas existentes, bem como os possíveis métodos de emprego e os requisitos necessários para se poderem incrementar as capacidades desta tipologia de forças.
De modo a alcançar o objetivo proposto foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas, complementadas por uma análise documental focada no tema. Os principais resultados incluem, no âmbito das operações de combate, a proposta de um modo de emprego dos Sistemas Terrestres Não Tripulados nas Companhias de Atiradores. Desta forma, com base na abordagem seguida foi possível concluir que, quando implementados em Companhias de Atiradores, os Sistemas Terrestres Não Tripulados devem ser empregues na execução de tarefas de reconhecimento, tarefas de segurança e tarefas administrativo-logísticas, direcionadas à sustentação da força.
The modern battlefield is currently characterized by innovation and the variety of technologies used, which have been developed with the evolution of warfare. In this sense, in line with International Humanitarian Law, there is a continuous concern for human life, which, as far as possible, should be kept away from actions that could jeopardize its integrity. Unmanned Ground Systems are a viable option for replacing the human element in conducting operations. The aim of this research project is to propose a way of using Unmanned Ground Systems in Infantry units, focusing on the Rifle Companies that exist in the Portuguese Army, identifying the types of systems that exist, as well as possible methods of use and the requirements needed to increase the capabilities of this type of force. In order to achieve this goal, semi-structured interviews were carried out, complemented by a documentary analysis focused on the proposed topic. The main results include, within the framework of combat operations, the proposal of a way of using Unmanned Ground Systems in Rifle Companies. Therefore, based on the approach followed, it was possible to conclude that, when implemented in Rifle Companies, Unmanned Ground Systems should be employed to carry out reconnaissance tasks, security tasks and administrative-logistical tasks, with the goal of sustaining the force.
