Abstract(s)
Abstract: The Bakery of Vigo, the largest flour mill company during its years of operation,it is a part of Vigo's industrial heritage and it is the object of study to be analyzed for the intervention of new construction and rehabilitation offered by this project. The city of Vigo has its own industrial heritage of the early twentieth century, canneries, factories and ceramic heritage flour, the bakery plant at Vigo, are examples of a heritage that until recently was not valued enough to preserve or rehabilitate them. Currently, Vigo has learned to value this legacy as important and symbolic for the city, and have begun to provide answers and solutions to the problems arising in the recovery of these buildings. The project arises aims to generate new architectural responses to urban dynamics in Vigo city proposing the creation of new living spaces and act as a potential agent of renewal, decisive for the rehabilitation of the Bakery, promoting conservation of industrial heritage Vigo. To carry out this research, establishing a methodological plan that uses techniques of documentary analysis and historical research. This involves a content analysis of qualitative primarily for the purpose of study to investigate. First, it has made a theoretical investigation based on the historical context that characterizes the Bakery of Vigo. Establishing a framework that will serve as a filter to set the conservation and rehabilitation strategy will be applied to the old industrial building. It is a brief research-based input methods of practice, which includes a previous study on four projects for apartment blocks of low and medium density. The objective of the analysis is the apprehension of ideas, concepts, uses and densities associated with this type of building, interpret and adapt the needs demanded by the plot of the Bakery and the building itself will be the dynamics on which sit the architectural responses of the project. The development of an innovation project contributes in defining an historical industrial area almost in ruins. In a place where housing embraces both collectively with its various services and spaces, as well as contributing symbols reminiscent of the past coexist in perfect harmony with the residential buildings. The project seeks to restore an area of great significance to society Vigo, holding it on the pillars of the group home use which provide inherent uses to the city in private and public levels, all enhanced by the supplementation of various services and spaces, giving up much of the land to public use (square) in conjunction with the conservation of the Bakery silos, and without losing the identity of the historic district where it is inserted. A small museum of the Bakery act as a tourist and cultural point of information.
