dc.description.abstractO objetivo do presente trabalho de investigação é analisar o contributo que as Estações Salva-Vidas do Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos dão ao Sistema Nacional de Busca e Salvamento Marítimo, determinando dessa forma se o modelo existente se adequa às necessidades atuais. O Sistema Nacional de Busca e Salvamento Marítimo, criado na sequência da adesão de Portugal à Convenção SAR, assegura a busca e o salvamento marítimo nas áreas de responsabilidade nacional. O Dispositivo de Salvamento Marítimo define a implantação territorial das Estações Salva-Vidas, assim como os meios e o pessoal que as materializam e tem naturalmente impacto na capacidade de resposta a acidentes marítimos. O presente trabalho assenta no estudo comparativo com outras organizações de países vizinhos, similares ao Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos, e desenvolve-se em quatro partes. Na primeira parte analisa-se a localização das Estações Salva-Vidas, na segunda parte a distribuição dos meios pelas Estações Salva-Vidas, na terceira parte a distribuição do pessoal e na quarta parte as qualificações, certificações, treino e adestramento do pessoal. O trabalho finda com a identificação de alguns pontos que se julga importante melhorar e a sugestão de novas linhas de estudo para trabalhos futuros.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractAbstract: The objective of this investigation is to analyse the contribution of the Lifeguard Stations of the Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos to the National Maritime Search and Rescue System, thus determining if the existing model is appropriate to current needs. The National Maritime Search and Rescue System, created in sequence of Portugal bond to the SAR Convention, ensures maritime search and rescue in areas of national responsibility. The Maritime Rescue Dispositive defines the territorial implantation of Lifeguard Stations, as well as the means and personnel that materialize them and has a natural impact on the capability to respond to maritime accidents. The present study is based on a comparative study with other organizations from neighbouring countries, similar to Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos, and is developed in four parts. In the first part we analyse the location of the Lifeguard Stations, in the second part the distribution of the means by the Lifeguard Stations, in the third part the distribution of the personnel and in the fourth part the qualifications, certifications, training and dressage of the personnel. The work ends with the identification of some points that it is considered important to improve and the suggestion of new lines of study for future work.pt_PT
