Na evolução das creches em Portugal verifica-se uma alternância entre conceções assistencialista de integração educacional. Procura-se refletir sobre a tensão existente entre estas duas perspetivas relativamente ao atendimento em creche em Portugal. A creche foi considerada como local de guarda por impedimento dos pais, no entanto no decurso dos tempos assistimos a tentativas de a assumir como um serviço de prestação de cuidados e de educação promovendo um desenvolvimento mais holístico e respeitador dos direitos das crianças.
In the evolution of nurseries in Portugal there is an alternation between welfare con-ceptions and educational integration. Wanted reflect on the tension between these two perspectives regarding the attendance at day care in Portugal. The nursery was considered as a place of guard for offside parents, however in the course of time we have seen attempts to take over as a service providing care and education to promote a more holistic and respectful development of children's rights.
