Este trabalho tem como objeto de estudo a Medicina Militar, sendo o seu Objetivo Geral a análise de medidas de melhoria da sua atratividade. Neste âmbito foi estabelecido como Questão Central – Como melhorar a atratividade da Medicina Militar? – Para tal, foi seguido uma metodologia de raciocínio essencialmente indutivo, assente numa estratégia de investigação qualitativa com reforço quantitativo, substanciada no estudo de caso como desenho de pesquisa.
Assim, concluiu-se que as perspetivas de vir a ter uma carreira segura, a possibilidade de ter acesso a uma especialidade médica e a ideia da aventura e da vertente humanitária da medicina, são motivações passiveis de atrair jovens para as Forças Armadas (FFAA), como tal devem ser exploradas através da implementação de medidas que reflitam a expetativa inicial dos candidatos. A motivação e o compromisso organizacional são a pedra angular do garante da retenção dos Médicos Militares (MM) nas FFAA. Pese embora a falta de consenso entre Ramos para definir quais as especialidades médicas mais vocacionadas para a Medicina Operacional, procurou-se identificar as especialidades mais consensuais. Como contributo para a melhoria dos processos de recrutamento, gestão e retenção de MM, sugere-se um conjunto de medidas passiveis de melhorar a atratividade da Medicina Militar.
This work has as object of study the Military Medicine, being its general objective the analysis of measures of improvement of its attractiveness. In this context it was established as a central issue - How to improve the attractiveness of Military Medicine? - For this, an essentially inductive reasoning methodology was followed, based on a qualitative research strategy with quantitative reinforcement, substantiated in the case study as a research design. Thus, it was concluded that the prospects of having a secure career, the possibility of having access to a medical specialty and the idea of adventure and the humanitarian side of medicine are motivations that can attract young people to the Armed Forces as such should be explored through the implementation of measures that reflect the initial expectation of candidates. Motivation and organizational commitment are the cornerstone of the guarantor of the retention of Military Doctors in the Armed Forces. Despite the lack of consensus among Ramos to define the most specialized medical specialties for the Operational Medicine, it was tried to identify the most consensual specialties. As a contribution to the improvement of Military Doctors recruitment, management and retention processes, it is suggested a set of measures likely to improve the attractiveness of Military Medicine.
