Abstract(s)
O presente Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada tem como tema “O Apoio Aéreo
Próximo no Teatro de Operações do Afeganistão”.
Assistindo ao avanço tecnológico e à evolução do espectro de operações, as Forças
Armadas dos diversos Estados têm tido a necessidade de reformular o emprego dos
diversos meios à sua disposição para fazer face a novas ameaças.
A utilização do poder aéreo tem sido preponderante nos conflitos a partir da metade
do séc. XX, principalmente na utilização do apoio aéreo próximo em operações conjuntas,
ao qual torna-se indispensável no planeamento e condução das operações por parte dos
comandantes das forças terrestres empregues nos diversos teatros de operações.
Como testemunho, evidencia-se o emprego desta valência da componente aérea em
auxílio às Quick Reaction Force das Forças Nacionais Destacadas empregues no Teatro de
Operações do Afeganistão, bem como aos contingentes militares estrangeiros pertencentes
à International Security Assistance Force, ao qual desempenhou um papel primordial na
condução das diversas operações.
A pergunta inerente à temática estudada é “Qual a importância do apoio aéreo
próximo no teatro de operações do Afeganistão?”.
Para que o caminho da investigação seja linear, este trabalho contemplou uma
abordagem dedutiva, pelo método do estudo de caso, com o objetivo de identificar a
importância do apoio aéreo próximo na conduta das operações.
Concluiu-se que a integração dos elementos da equipa Tactical Air Control Party
na força de manobra é fundamental para a condução das operações, bem co mo a valência
do apoio aéreo próximo em auxilio à componente terrestre no Afeganistão contribui
decisivamente para o sucesso das operações.
Abstract The present research project has a topic “Close Air Support in the Afghanistan theatre”. Due to the technological advancements and the evolution of the spectrum of operations, the Armed Forces from various states have had the necessity to reformulate the way they use the means they have at their disposal to face new threats. The use of air power has been predominant in conflicts from mid-twentieth century, especially in the use of close air support in joint operations, which becomes indispensable in the planning and conduct of operations by the commanders of the ground forces deployed in various operating theatre. As an example, we highlight the usage of this air component in aid of the Quick Reaction Force of the national forces deployed in Afghanistan, as well as other international military forces belonging to the International Security Assistance Force, which played a crucial role in the conduct of the various operations. The question that comes with the topic studied here is “What is the importance of Close Air Support in the Afghanistan theatre?” In order to keep the studied topic and subtopics in order, this work takes deductive approach, by the methodology of the study case, with the objective of identifying the importance of close air support in the conduct of operations. The conclusion reached was the integration of elements of the Tactical Air Control Party team in the maneuver force is fundamental in the conduct of the operations, as well as the usage of air support in aid to the land component in Afghanistan plays a major role in the success of the operations.
