Este trabalho de investigação incide sobre uma comparação entre a batalha de Canas
liderada por Aníbal Barca e a ofensiva terrestre daoperação Tempestade no Deserto, cuja liderança e planeamento são de Norman Schwarzkopf. Passando por uma contextualização histórica para enquadrar os dois objectos em estudo, na qual escrevo sobre o Império Romano e Cartaginês no século III a.C. e posteriormente inserir a potência Americana e o Iraque. Faço a comparação utilizando os princípios da Guerra e funções de combate presentes no Regulamento de Campanha e Operações 130, estabelecendo assim um ponto de ligação onde as duas batalhas se encontram. São duas épocas completamente
diferentes, mas muito comuns em alguns aspectos.
Abstract This work of investigation is about a comparison between the Cannae battle commanded by Aníbal Barca and the ground offensive of Desert Storm operation, which leadership and planning are from Norman Schwarzkopf. Passing by a historic contextualization to enchase the two objects in study, where I write about the Roman and Carthaginian Empire in third century before Christ and after this, the American power and Iraq. I make the comparison using the war principles and combat functions present in the operations and campaign regulation 130, making a point of connection where the two battles encounter each other. It is two ages completely different from each other, but very common in some ways.
