Abstract(s)
Objective: The objective of this study was to verify whether or not there is standardization, regarding the type of clinical protocols followed by dentists and / or stomatiologists with different years of practice, before patients receiving antithrombotic therapy and requiring oral surgery. Materials and methods: With the help of 15 dentists, a survey was carried out that reached about 204 people and this study was subsequently carried out based on the results obtained. Data collection was done through the SPEMD (Portuguese Society of Stomatology and Dentistry) according to the platform Google forms. The results were statistically treated using the SPSS software and a descriptive and comparative statistic was performed. Results: Of the 204 respondents we obtained a sample of 104 male and 100 female subjects. The majority of respondents were in the age group of 20-40 years. In terms of basic training the vast majority of the respondents were dentists and there were about 31 stomatologists, while in relation to the time of exercise the majority of the sample exercised to less than 15 years and in relation to the area of activity 173 of the respondents were generalists while 31 were specialists. An inferential analysis was performed, associating exercise time as well as activity area with different variables, namely the distinction between antiplatelet and anticoagulant antiplatelet agents, the different forms of action of an antithrombotic patient before oral surgery and others. Conclusions: This study concluded that the current standards and protocols recommended in relation to a patient in antithrombotic therapy in need of oral surgery are often neglected or unknown by a significant proportion of dentists.
