momentos do perioperatório.
A prática, aliada à reflexão crítica e à fundamentação teórica, apresentada no presente
Providing nursing care to people in perioperative situations is a major challenge, given the complexity of the perioperative environment, which creates high-risk situations, and the need to mobilise a wealth of knowledge and skills in order to provide effective and efficient responses. A series of specialised skills are needed to care for people in perioperative situations, guaranteeing excellence in nursing care based on scientific evidence and safety consistent with surgical awareness. The present report of a professional internship explains the development of common and specific competences leading to the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the area of Nursing for People in Perioperative Situations. This provides a descriptive-critical-reflective methodology, based on scientific evidence, explaining the theory and practical knowledge and skills acquired and developed along this journey. As part of this process, it is possible to emphasise the development and implementation of the individual internship project, focused on information for the continuity of nursing care in the post-anesthesia care unit. Perioperative nursing care is developed in a continuous and standardised process of good practices that constitute safe, quality care at the different stages of the perioperative period. The transmission of information on time, precise, clear and complete, from the operating room, to the post-anesthesia care unit, is fundamental and contributes to a large database on the client. This information sustains decision-making and provides the basis for the established care plan, its implementation and the evaluation of the interventions to be developed, helping nurses to understand care priorities, anticipate complications and adequately plan the care to be provided. The transmission of information, in a uniform and standardised way, is essential for the safety, quality and continuity of nursing care in the post-anesthesia care unit, reducing the occurrence of adverse events. The practice, combined with critical reflection and the theoretical basis presented in this report, demonstrate the integration of common and specific competences, evidenced by the ability to design, manage and supervise care, as well as effective support for specialised professional practice, in relation to education and research, in the continuous search for updating and improvement.
