O presente trabalho tem como tema a delinquência juvenil, mais concretamente o fenómeno “thug” na cidade da Praia, fenómeno este que está a alterar o bom funcionamento da sociedade cabo-verdiana. O fenómeno “thug” já alastrou para quase todas as zonas do subúrbio, deixando marcas inesquecíveis em muitas famílias.
Em termos metodológicos este trabalho é descritivo, baseado em consultas bibliográficas, entrevistas, notícias televisivas e o próprio conhecimento empírico acerca do fenómeno em causa.
Neste trabalho tentamos descrever o fenómeno “thug” na cidade da Praia, as causas que estão na origem do mesmo, modus operandi dos grupos de “thug”, as áreas de actuação e tentar explicar o fenómeno em si através de uma teoria sociológica.
Apresentamos ainda algumas medidas a adoptar no combate ao fenómeno
The present work has juvenile delinquency as its theme, more concretely the phenomenon “thug” in the city of the Praia, a phenomenon that could modify the functioning of the Cape Verdean society. The “thug” phenomenon already spread to almost all zones of the suburbs, leaving unforgettable marks in many families. In methodological terms this work is descriptive, based in bibliographical consultations, televised interviews, news and my own empirical knowledge about the phenomenon in question. In this work we try to describe the “thug” phenomenon in the city of Praia, the basic extant similarities and differences, the modus operandi of groups of “thug” and the areas of action – trying to explain the phenomenon in itself through a sociological theory. We also suggest some measures that we believe should be adopted in fighting the phenomenon
