Sleep is a primary biological function common to all human beings, characterized as a reversible behavioral state that plays a fundamental role in homeostasis and health maintenance. Sleep deprivation or poor sleep quality is associated with adverse 6 consequences that have a direct impact on children's growth and development and can significantly compromise their overall health and development. In this context, the role of the Specialist Nurse in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing takes on special relevance, since, due to their specific skills and field of practice, they are in a privileged position to intervene in promoting the health of children/young people and their families. This intervention, whether in a hospital or community setting, should integrate the promotion and protection of sleep as a preventive and educational practice, encouraging the adoption of healthy habits that support healthy child development. Thus, the overall objective was defined as developing EEESIP and Master's skills by maximizing child health through the promotion of good sleep habits. To this end, situation assessments were carried out, specific objectives were outlined, and activities were developed that sought to respond to the needs identified in each clinical context, always based on the best available scientific evidence. The activities implemented, combined with a critical and reflective review of the literature and adaptation to the unique requirements of each context, enabled the consolidation of technical, scientific, ethical, relational, and communication skills. This process contributed to the provision of specialized care—both common and specific—and to the development of master's skills, highlighting the relevance of evidence-based practice for health promotion. Ultimately, this approach reinforces the role of nurses as active agents in the prevention of sleep disorders and the maximization of child health, resulting in an effective contribution to the excellence of nursing care.
