Abstract(s)
Accidents at work have a very significant impact on organizations, both because of their economic effects, resulting in the slowdown of production and the medical costs of injury recovery, and the social effects of inequality and social devaluation that affect workers and their families. Thus, the return and professional reintegration of the worker, after the occurrence of an accident at work, is a stage that should consider the incapacity of the worker recognizing the different impacts, their dimensions and interactions at professional, social and family level, with a view to creating safe and healthy jobs. Following the case study methodology and through the application of qualitative data collection instruments, including interviews with workers re-employed in new roles, the identification and analysis of occupational accidents that occurred in two consecutive years, proceeded to evaluation and validation of the process of professional reintegration and job adequacy in a public employer. The results indicate that it is not only the physical and functional factors that influence the adequacy of the workplace and the motivation, quality of life and well-being of the injured worker. The return of the worker after a work accident to a professional activity appropriate to his productive capacity, resulting in an environment of comfort and safety for the worker, is a complex process, with diverse natures interrelated, in a dynamic web. In this perspective, the adequacy of the job, in the return to work of workers who suffered permanent changes in professional performance that prevent them from returning to the activity performed before the work accident, is a process of welcoming, training and monitoring the professional reintegration of the worker.
